Abu Dhabi: Engineer accused of leaking confidential information

The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal received the testimony of two engineers in the favor of the colleague, an oil drilling engineer who was accused of accessing the company’s database and copying confidential information. The hearing was postponed to September 23.

The engineer denied the charges, pointing out that he worked for the company for up to 36 years with all honesty and loyalty, and did not leak information to any party that could harm the company.

According to the first witness, his colleague was responsible for training engineers and technical crews that drill oil wells and had 5 engineers and 5 excavators under his supervision. The witness stressed that training programs related to drilling and maintenance of wells and safety and other instructions are available to all employees of the company, as well as on the company’s website.

The second witness also stated that the drilling instructions file is publicly used inside and outside the company, and available on the web, and that the drilling instructions are the same as that used by international companies working in the field of drilling, pointing out that confidentiality does not apply to this incident because it is mentioned in meetings with many other companies to monitor the progress of work.
