Abu Dhabi: Young man fined Dh150,000 for editing, posting photos on social media

The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation has upheld the ruling of a 150,000 dirhams fine for a man who posted photos of another man on social media, after editing them to defame him.

The details of the case reveal that the Public Prosecution charged the victim with invading the privacy of the victim by posting his photos online after editing them.. The Bani Yas Court of First Instance sentenced him to a fine of 150,000 dirhams. The defendant appealed the ruling, the Public Prosecution filed a memorandum which rejected the appeal.
