A 38-year-old Emirati man has lost his life due to severe injuries following a collision with another vehicle, driven by a 27-year-old Asian man in the Emirates Road roundabout in Ras Al Khaimah.
Col. Ahmad Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al-Khaimah Police, said that at 6:15 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2019, a collision occurred between two vehicles and was reported to the station. Police and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the accident’s location.
It was revealed that the accident occurred as a result of the Emirati man not seeing the other car coming on the road due to the extreme fog in the emirate this morning. The Asian driver was injured due to the strong collision and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Emirati man’s body was transferred to the hospital in preparation to be handed over to his family. The file was transferred to the competent authorities to complete necessary investigations.
The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police stressed the importance of abiding by the legal road speeds during the presence of fog, he also stressed the need to turn on the vehicle’s low lights to alert other vehicles. Col. Al Naqbi also extended his deep condolences to the deceased’s family.
