Kashmir escalation: Pakistan ‘shoots down two Indian jets’

The following are the latest escalations in Kashmir:

– Indian Air Force plane crashes in Indian Kashmir, two pilots and a civilian dead.

-India shuts at least four airports in Northern India.

– Pakistan foreign ministry confirms air strikes across Kashmir Line of Control and strikes at non-military target, avoiding human loss, to demonstrate right, capability for self-defense

Both India and Pakistan claim all of Muslim-majority Kashmir, but control only parts of it. The two nuclear powers have fought three wars and a limited conflict since independence from Britain in 1947 – and all but one were over Kashmir.
