Abu Dhabi: Student sentenced to five years in prison, fined for an Instagram post

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has convicted a GCC university student of posting an Instagram video inciting students to hate school and teachers, and sentenced him to five-year prison term and a fine of 500,000 dirhams, with the closure of his account.

The accused denied the charge against him, explaining that he did not mean to mock the local dialect or incite any group of society or disturb students in schools. The videos were intended to clarify some of the things that happen in schools and were published on his personal Instagram account where only his friends can see them.
