Abu Dhabi: Bank employee gets 7 years sentence for embezzling AED1.4 million

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has convicted an Asian bank employee of a bank operating in the UAE who was accused of embezzling AED 1,445,000 from the bank’s clients’ account. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison and deportation, in addition to paying AED 2.911,000 million.

Details of the case date back to January and February of this year, when the accused, used his authorities as a cashier and embezzled the amounts he received from clients who wanted to deposit them in their accounts in the bank, by issuing a receipt for them and then taking the cash, stealing it from the clients and from the bank.

When the accused felt that he was exposed, he fled the country but authorities arrested him at the airport.
