Dubai Police Urges Parents to Keep an Eye on Their Children’s Behavior

His Excellency Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, confirmed that traffic patrols have apprehended several teenagers riding modified electric bikes at speeds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour on jogging and walking tracks in the Nad Al Sheba area and other locations across the emirate. “This behavior poses a serious risk to track users, including athletes and pedestrians, as well as to the young riders themselves,” he added.

Al Mazrouei highlighted that electric bikes designed for recreational use or light commuting should not be used on sports tracks, noting that some individuals modify these bikes to increase their speed, making them comparable to dangerous motorcycles. “This poses a significant danger not only to the riders but also to others, and it violates regulations governing their use,” he continued.

He added that Dubai Police traffic patrols, in collaboration with partners, conducted intensive field campaigns following complaints from community members about reckless behavior by some teenagers. Offenders were apprehended, legal actions were taken against them, and their parents were summoned to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving children unsupervised while using these vehicles.

Additionally, Al Mazrouei noted that Dubai Police traffic patrols, in cooperation with partners, conducted intensive field campaigns in response to community complaints about reckless behavior among teenagers. He mentioned that violators were apprehended, legal actions were taken against them, and their parents were summoned to raise awareness about the dangers of unsupervised use of these vehicles.

Al Mazrouei stated that the General Department of Traffic impounded 101 electric bikes and issued 130 fines in various areas of the emirate over the past week due to improper use and high-speed operation in unauthorized locations. He emphasized that these statistics highlight the seriousness of the issue and the urgent need for increased monitoring and community awareness to mitigate the problem.

He underscored that parental neglect and limited supervision pose significant risks, contributing to the rise of negative behaviors among children. Al Mazrouei urged families to take responsibility for educating their children on safe electric bike usage, ensuring adherence to designated tracks and safety precautions such as wearing helmets and reflective vests.

The Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs emphasized that Dubai Police will continue traffic awareness campaigns and initiatives in residential areas and along jogging and walking tracks. “In cooperation with strategic partners, these efforts aim to foster a culture of safety, promote positive behaviors in the community, and create a safe environment for all road users and athletes,” Al Mazrouei concluded.
