Abu Dhabi: Asian man gets death sentence after killing his employer using meat cleaver

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court unanimously sentenced an Asian employer to death on Wednesday after he was convicted of murdering his employer -of the same nationality- using a meat cleaver after a dispute between them. The victim had allegedly reduced the accused’s salary from AED 1500 to AED 1,000.

The Public Prosecution received the victim after a report was received by the police stating that the owner of a workshop in Musaffah Industrial Zone was killed using a cooking cleaver while he was inside a vehicle.

A surveillance video showed the accused’s identity, also showing him stealing two mobile phones from the victim, and a laptop, and returning on the second day to work, as if nothing had happened.

The accused confessed to the incident, saying that his employer had brought him from his home country to work for a salary of AED 1500, but the accused was surprised with only  AED 1000 at the end of the month, when asked about the reason, the victim asked him to have sexual relations with him in return for receiving the rest of the monthly salary.

The accused was then referred to court.
