Abu Dhabi: Man charged for luring people to his hotel room through social media

Abu Dhabi Criminal Court initiated an investigation yesterday in the case of a young Arab man accused of misusing social media outlets to lure people to his apartment, the court decided to postpone the case until November 11.

During the hearing, the court listened to a witness, an investigation officer, who explained that an anonymous report was received stating that an Arab man has been luring people through social media to his hotel room, and the information was investigated by competent teams.

When asked about the details of the investigation, and whether the defendant and other people in the room were caught, he stated that the defendant was caught alone. He pointed out that the anonymous source was informed of what has been happening though one of the accused’s visitors. Further investigations showed that within the period of observation (two days), the number of people who were seen going inside the accused’s hotel room ranged from four to five.
