Abu Dhabi Police rescues two Asian workers stranded on the 21st floor of a building

Two Asian cleaning workers were rescued by Abu Dhabi Police  from falling from the 21 floor of a building after their platform trapped while cleaning the windows.

The intervention teams at the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Emergency and Public Safety Directorate rescued the  two Asian workers, who were trapped on the 21st floor of a building in Abu Dhabi while cleaning the facades of the building.

The Directorate received a report from the command and control center in the operations department stating that two workers were trapped inside a scaffold on the 21st floor of a building in Al Wahda area in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Intervention Center (Al Falah), accompanied by an ambulance, immediately moved to the site.

The teams worked to rescue the workers and provide them with the needed medical care, both in good health. The neighboring area was also evacuated, to ensure the safety of workers and others.

The Director of the Rapid Intervention Department, Lt. Colonel Ibrahim Ali Jalal Al Balushi, called on the maintenance and general contracting companies to maintain periodic maintenance of the scaffolding to ensure safety conditions, stressing the importance of training the workers and providing safety devices to avoid similar incidents.

He explained that the team resorted to breaking a part of the building’s glass facade and not using the manual method in landing the scaffold, in order to preserve the safety of workers.
