In video: Driver caught using his phone for 25 minutes while driving students

A man in central China is now under police investigation after he was caught using his mobile phone behind the wheel.
The driver, identified by his surname Xiang, was driving a busload of high school students in Enshi, Hubei province when he was filmed looking at text messages and his social media feed on his phone, according to police.
In two instances, the distracted man was seen taking both hands off the steering wheel as he held onto his phone while changing gears.
The bus operator has since suspended the driver, who was also fined and had two points deducted from his license for the violation.
The Hubei traffic police were alerted to the incident on Sunday by a passenger who claimed to be on the dangerous ride.
Up to 16 students were on the one-hour-40-minute ride home from Enshi after a day out in the city during the national holiday.
Video footage shows the man scrolling through his phone and sending voice messages while driving along a motorway.
The driver was on his phone for an accumulated 25 minutes and picked up his phone 21 times in total, according to the Public Security Bureau’s traffic department in a statement.
He also took both hands off the wheel in two instances, the police added.
‘Even when the driver is driving through tunnels, where lighting conditions change drastically, he did not put down his phone,’ the statement said.
