Dubai: Truck crashs into overhead metal frame of the Shindagha tunnel

The Dubai Police, in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has handled successfully the aftermath of an accident involving a truck transporting an excavator that failed to adhere to the height clearance of the Al Shindagha Tunnel.

The severe crash of the over-height truck resulted in the fall of both the overhead metal frame of the tunnel entrance and the excavator. Fortunately, there is no injury to be reported.

Colonel Omar Musa Ashour, Deputy Director of Naif Police Station, confirmed that the General Department of Transport and Rescue and the General Department of Traffic, in Cooperation with the RTA, formed a work joint team to handle the accident that was reported early Sunday morning. The team closed both sides of the tunnel, diverted the traffic, and maintained its flow.

“In a record time and within few hours, the joint team successfully managed to clear the tunnel route of the truck, excavator, and the metal frame and reopen it before the members of the public started the day and headed to their works,” Col. Ashour added.
