The Ministry of Health and Prevention has decided to withdraw and suspend the registration of the drug “Pedovex” 75 mg tablets which are used in the treatment of coagulation, manufactured by Tabuk Pharmaceutical Company. This came after the Saudi Food and Drug Authority suspended the registration of this product and the withdrawed it due to its bio-equivalence compared to the original product.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health requested the company’s authorized agent to withdraw all drugs from the Abu Dhabi markets. The pharmacies operating in the emirate shall stop the disposal of the product and return it to the supplier. It also called on health care professionals to report any side effects caused by the drug.
It is noted that the drug contains “Clopidogrel”, which helps prevent blood clotting by preventing the Adenosine D-phosphate from binding to their receptors on the surface of the platelet wall and thus prevent the process of platelet aggregation and stop the formation of clots. It is used to prevent the risk of recurrence of heart clots, strokes or deep-vein thrombosis especially for people with risk factors.
