The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI), in collaboration with Emirates Gas and Emarat, today announced a reduction in the price of LPG cylinders by an average of 24 per cent. The decision will contribute to safeguarding the local economy, regulating the quality and price of petroleum products, and addressing any potential safety risks faced by customers.
Emirates Gas will supply its customers in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, while Emarat will supply LPG cylinders to customers in Dubai only. The cooking gas cylinders will now be available for end-user customers at a lower price; AED 60 for the 11kg cylinder, AED 115 for the 22 kg cylinder and AED230 for the 44 kg cylinder. The revised prices (inclusive of VAT and delivery to customers) will be implemented from October 1, 2020.
The reduction in prices demonstrates the Ministry, Emirates Gas and Emarat’s commitment to extend its support to the local community and address any concerns regarding price fluctuation and to ensure consistent value for customers by offering high-quality products at reduced prices.
His Excellency Suhail Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy & Infrastructure, stressed that the strategic decision supports the directives of the nation’s leadership to achieve the highest levels of happiness among the community, and enhance the quality of life in light of the current challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
His Excellency Al Mazroui added: “This decision will help in meeting the needs of the local community of the UAE for liquefied gas at reduced prices, which will serve the public interest, and help in the transition from the past fifty years to the next fifty, by turning challenges into opportunities and creating hope, and ambition for a decent life.”
His Excellency the Minister valued the cooperation of the Emirates Gas Company, a subsidiary of the ENOC Group and the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emirates), in reducing gas prices, and their societal responsibility that comes in response to changes, and confirms their contribution to providing safe options at an affordable price, as well as providing them with stable value to customers, and high-quality products.
He added that the decision to reduce the prices of LPG is the result of a detailed evaluation and as part of a future vision to promote societal interests. It also reflects the positive outlook for the economy and the community, as well as the focus on enhancing the country’s position globally on various indicators and enhancing economic competitiveness.
The UAE government is keen to ensure the provision of high-quality LPG that meets security and safety standards to further enhance the quality of life. Regulation of prices by the government is a measure to enrich enhance citizens and residents’ standard of living, added H.E. Al Mazroui.
