NCEMA: The re-enforcement of the national sterilization program is possible

H.E Obaid AL Hassan Al Shamsi, Director-General at the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Management Authority:

  • We have reviewed the national readiness plans in dealing with pandemics in the months of August and October of 2019.
  • Managing stress was the first challenge that we faced during the pandemic, and our goal was to reduce the pandemic panic after declaring its detection in the UAE.
  • The Emirati media proved to be highly capable during the Coronavirus crisis as a tool of national power.
  • The surge in the number of cases was expected. However, the partial re-opening phase does not mean neglecting preventive and precautionary measures.
  • The re-enforcement of the national sterilization program is possible, but only in the areas of the outbreak.
  • The recent outbreak was after Eid al-Adha period despite the constant reminder to adhere to the preventive measures.
  • The UAE’s methodology is a global model in dealing with the crisis and it must be taught.
  • Our wise leadership work around the clock to meet all the needs of the UAE community.
  • We do not impose measures to restrict freedoms, but to protect the UAE community.
