Fines will be imposed on those who spread false health information

The cabinet has approved a decision on the publication and exchange of health information related to communicable diseases and epidemics, and misinformation related to human health, hence:

  • It is prohibited for any person to publish, re-publish, circulate false, misleading, misrepresented health information or guidelines that were not authorized by the health Ministry or the authority, or contradicting to what has been announced, using various media and social media or any other means of publication.
  • Based on this decision, fines of up to AED 20,000 shall be imposed on violators, who publish or re-publish false or misleading health information or guidelines. Sanctions shall be imposed by the Ministry of Health and Prevention or the health authority and will ensure its implementation.
