British journalist sentenced to 7 years in prison for murdering his wife

Dubai Court of Appeal sentenced yesterday a British journalist to 7 years in prison followed by deportation after being charged of murdering his wife.

Dubai court heard the defendant’s defense at a previous hearing where Ali Al-Shamsi, the lawyer of the defendant, presented a brief of the most important points that shall help the court to respond to his request for commutation of judgment to two years in prison.

The sentence against the defendant passed through various stages, where The Court of the first instance sentenced him to 10 years in prison, and Dubai Public Prosecution sentenced him to 15 years in prison. The defendant had appealed before the Court of Cassation, which referred the case to Court of Appeal for further consideration, to be heard by another court.
