The motorist who caused the death of a four-year-old girl and serious injury to her mother admitted her mistake in the accident and is facing three charges.
The attorney general, head of the Dubai Traffic Prosecution, Salah Boufarousha al-Falasi said that the prosecution had charged the woman with three charges: causing death, physical harm and property damage.
Al-Falasi explained that the prosecution will demand the maximum penalty for the defendant up to three years in prison and a two-year suspension of her driving license, deprivation of issuing a driving license for another two years, a penalty up to AED 30,000, as well as to pay the legal blood money AED 200,000.
The accident took place at 3:40 pm on Monday afternoon, when the mother was taking her daughter after school, the defendant, who was reversing her vehicle, accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. Both mother and child were crushed between the moving vehicle and a parked one. The girl died on the spot while her mother was transported to the hospital.
