Female Expat gets 10 years in jail for bringing 307 electronic cigarettes to UAE

Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced a European female expat to 10-year in prison and a fine of 50,000 dirhams after she was convicted of bringing in and possessing 307 electronic cigarettes containing a cannabis-extract liquid.
Details of the case reveal that the customs inspectors found a plastic box with the defendant containing 228 electronic cigarette filters, a cannabis extract and 78 plastic bottles containing 79 electronic cigarette filters with a total weight of 4 kg. In addition to a Plastic bag containing 1.4 kg of cocaine.

Hassan Matar, the accused’s lawyer, appealed the sentence stating that his client was not aware she was carrying illegal narcotics into the country, and that she did not even try to hide it in her bag.
