The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals scheduled June 30th for the ruling in a case of a GCC man charged with drug possession after he was found to have drug substance in a piece of cake he brought with him to the airport.
Details of the case reveal that the accused had a piece of cake in his backpack containing narcotic substance in its ingredients. The competent authorities arrested him and charged him with possession of narcotic substance.
The defendant denied the charges against him, stressing that he did not know that the piece of cakes he had bought from another countries before returning to the UAE contains narcotic substance, and demanded his accquitance and the removal of the AED 10,000 fine he was sentenced to.
