US Federal Reserve keeps rates unchanged for 8th consecutive time

The US Federal Reserve decided in its meeting today to keep its benchmark overnight interest rate in the 5.25-5.50 percent range, their highest levels since 2001.

This is the eighth time that the US Federal Reserve has fixed interest rates since the start of the monetary policy tightening cycle in March 2022.
