One extra day… February 2024 is longer than usual

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society: February 2024 will be one day longer than usual, as it will be 29 days instead of 28, which means that we are in a leap year that consists of 366 days instead of 365.

A leap year occurs every four years, so the next leap year will be 2028. The choice of adding one day to the month of February is traced back to Julius Caesar’s calendar reforms in ancient Rome.
