Italy’s inflation hits 6.8%, highest since 1990

Italy’s annual inflation rate climbed to 6.8% in May, 2022, the highest level since November 1990 and up from 6% in April, ANSA reported quoting the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT).

The figure was slightly lower than the 6.9% the national statistics agency had given in its preliminary estimate.

ISTAT said its consumer-price index was up 0.8% in month-on-month terms in May.
