Google Maps is going to get a lot more eco-friendly as it is introducing options that would help users not just save their fuel and money, but also reduce emissions along the way.
Google Maps has started rolling out a new feature that would now offer its users an option to pick between two routes — ones that are quicker and the other that are a lot more fuel-efficient, resulting in fewer emissions as well as saving fuel.
Google revealed this in a recent blog post where it also highlighted that the app will now show relative differences in fuel savings and the estimated time of arrival to users. If in a situation, the ETA is the same for both faster and more fuel-efficient routes, Google Maps will default to the latter one, to allow for fuel consumption on the journey. | India Times
