The latest developments of the current tropical situation.. and why is it called “Shaheen”?

The National Center of Meteorology for “UAE Barq”:

• The tropical situation “Shaheen” is currently in the middle of the Arabian Sea, 270 km from the coast of the Emirate of Fujairah. It is still considered a category 1 tropical cyclone, and the wind speed around the cyclone’s center is between 120 to 130 km / h.

• Convective clouds are expected to appear this afternoon and evening over the eastern and southern regions of the UAE, which may be accompanied by rainfall of different intensities.

• The tropical situation was named “Shaheen” based on the list issued by the Tropical Cyclone Committee, which includes 13 countries from the northern Indian Ocean. Each country has the right to choose 13 names and include them in the alphabetically arranged list, and accordingly, the name of the situation is determined as soon as it develops into a storm.
