Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy discusses digital transformation of legal services

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy (ADJA) has organised a workshop on the “Digital Transformation of Legal Services and Amendments to the Evidence Law in Civil and Commercial Transactions”, through the Academy’s training platform.

The workshop was attended by 56 commercial judges from the Court of Cassation, the Judicial Inspection, and the commercial chambers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra courts.

The organisation of the workshop follows the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and President of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), to work towards improving judicial performance by providing specialised and continuous training to members of the judiciary and officers of the court.

Chancellor Ali Al Shaer Al Dhaheri, Director of the Judicial Inspection Division of the ADJD, said that the workshop aims to broaden the discussion about the current challenges encountered in the field of digital transformation for evidence in commercial litigation cases, to consider the most important issues that might arise in the future as a direct effect of implementing the new rules, in order to go hand in hand with the international competitiveness standards and contribute to improving the business environment in Abu Dhabi and consolidating the emirate’s position as an attractive environment for foreign investments and capital.

For his part, Judge Sultan Al Nyadi, President of the Commercial Court of Abu Dhabi, explained that the Decree Law No. 27 of 2020 amending certain provisions of Evidence Law No. 10 of 1992 was part of the UAE’s efforts to provide a safe and sustainable environment for all transactions, and to ensure the optimal use of modern technological means in line with the country’s vision of preparing the next 50 fifty years of the Federation’s life.

Judge Al Nyadi pointed out that the Decree Law was issued to make the processes easier for the litigants, as it stipulates the use of modern technology and communication means to reduce the obstacles causing an unjustified lengthening of the litigation time, as an affirmation of the quality of performance within the concept of accomplished digital justice.
