Story and Lesson… Wanted a domestic worker, fell prey to fraudsters

Public Prosecution: A housewife was on the lookout for a housemaid to work at her home. During her journey to find an appropriate maid with affordable cost, her friend sent her a phone number for a woman recruiting maids with lower rates than usual in licensed offices. The housewife contacted the lady who, in turn, send the maids’ photos to the housewife and informed her that she can recruit a housemaid with lower costs. Accordingly, the lady asked the housewife to transfer AED 4000 as a down-payment. After the transfer was made, the lady hasn’t responded to the housewife’s attempts to reach her, whether by calls or messages. The housewife reported the incident to the police, to become clear to her that several fraud reports have been submitted against the same phone number.
