Dubai Police humanitarian drive for inmates brings joy to 51 children

The Dubai Police “Asaadtumoni” (You Made Me Happy) humanitarian initiative has benefited 51 children of female inmates at the punitive and correctional institutions in Dubai since January 2020.

Carried out by the Protection of Children and Women Department at the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police in collaboration with General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, the initiative featured distributing toys, clothing and food coupons to the inmates’ children and families.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi, Director of Female Prison at General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions Dubai Police, the initiative is within the framework of Dubai Police’s approach to ensuring the happiness of all segments of the society through offering many social and humanitarian initiatives.

Lt. Col. Al Zaabi also pointed out that children of inmates receive special care, protection and enjoy several facilities including; kindergarten, play hall, clinic and a dining hall.
“We make sure children spend quality time with their mothers and have good times safely by adhering to the announced precautionary measures against COVID-19,” Lt. Col. Al Zaabi added.

Launched in 2014, the initiative has succeeded in ensuring happiness for hundreds of inmates’ children.
“This initiative promotes values of tolerance and love. It boosts Dubai Police’s humanitarian role, as well as reflects the positive joint efforts between different sectors in the society,” Lt. Col. Al Zaabi explained.
