23% increase in the recovery rate in the UAE.. More than 10 million tests were conducted since the pandemic outbreak

Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesman of the UAE government news briefing on the developments of COVID-19 in the UAE:

In a review of some statistics and figures on the health status within the last 7 days (from September 30 to October 6):

• More than 700,000 tests were conducted nationwide, with an increase of 8% over the same period last week.

• 23% increase in the recovery rate compared to the previous week, with a total number of 8,018 recoveries.

• We have reached more than 10 million tests since the pandemic outbreak, which makes the UAE the first country in the world where the number of tests conducted exceeds its population, for countries with a population of more than one million.

• 73% increase in the death rate compared to the previous week, with a total of 19 deaths. Yet, the death rate from the total number of infections in the month of September remains among the lowest in the world.

• 16% increase in the rate of confirmed cases, with a total number of 7,704 new cases.

• We would like to clarify that taking the “COVID-19” vaccine does not necessarily mean not being infected with the virus, especially in the trial period during which we study all the circumstances and factors surrounding the volunteers and the doses they receive.

• Unlike what has been circulated, volunteers who have already taken doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are required to follow the precautionary measures for their safety and the safety of others.

• There is a possibility of “COVID-19” and seasonal influenza infection at the same time, especially during the winter.

• We would like to affirm that the influenza vaccine does not protect against “COVID-19”, but protects against the possibility of influenza infection in order to avoid unnecessary medical visits.

• Certain groups that may suffer influenza complications are advised to take the vaccine, including health sector workers, children under the age of 5, smokers, pregnant women, the elderly, and those suffering from chronic diseases.
