The latest developments of the health status in the country within the past 7 days

Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesman of the UAE government news briefing on the developments of COVID-19:

Briefing the health status within the past 7 days, starting from September 23 until today:

• 6,643 positive cases were recorded out of 668,377 tests performed in the period from September 23 till today, which represents 1% of the total number of tests, compared to 0.8% of the previous week.

• Males represented 62% of the total cases while females represented 38%.

• 58% of the cases are between 25 and 44 years of age.

• The death rate increased within the 7 days from 0.1% to 0.3%, which is less than 1%, compared to other countries of the world which reached 8%.

• A person is considered to be in close contact with a positive case if the distance between them was less than two meters, and for a period of not less than 15 minutes.

• A contact with a positive case is considered two days before the symptom’s outset, or two days before the test results in case the infected person was asymptomatic.

Some statistics on the precautionary measures violations recorded in the UAE during two-week period from 1 to 15 September:

• 24,894 violations were recorded in the various regions of the UAE.

• The Asian nationality recorded the highest violations at 81%, followed by Arab nationality at 19%.

• Most violations were in the emirate of Dubai, followed by Abu Dhabi, then Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al-Quwain, and lastly Ras Al-Khaimah.

• Today we announce the return of the sports competitions in the country with specific procedures and guidelines that limit the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
