Coronavirus seems to infect men at a higher rate

Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesman of the UAE Government news briefing:

• Global statistics have showed that men are the most infected with COVID-19, hence they also represent the higher number of death due to the disease complications.

• Some studies indicates that a women’s immune system is more active due to genetic and hormonal factors. Men’s social activities such as going to crowded places, restaurants and cafes make them more prone to the infection.

• Smoking affects the capability of COVID-19 recovery and may even exacerbate the patient’s condition, especially as it is a respiratory disease.

• The recovery period for a patient depends on age, medical history, and infection with chronic diseases.
