Arab man penalized AED 50,000 for a “slap”

An Arab man aged in the third decade slapped a doctor on his cheek, while performing his work in a hospital in Umm al-Quwain, where he broke into the doctor’s room after an argument between them which ended with the man slapping the doctor on his cheek. The defendant was penalized AED 50,000 and sentenced to 1 year imprisoned for assaulting an employee.

In detail, a doctor works in a hospital in Umm al-Quwain had reported to the Public Prosecution in the emirate that the defendant had assaulted him while he was at his work. During the investigations, the defendant admitted the charge stating that the doctor delayed him from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm so he assualted the doctor and caused him injured on his neck until the other employees interfered and caught the accused. A witness confirmed the beating incident, as the medical examination also confirmed the victim’s injury.

Umm Al Quwain Misdemeanor Court sentenced in presence the defendant to one year in prison and a penalty of AED 50,000 according to Article (249) of the Federal Penal Code.
