Dubai police rescued a man and a woman from drowning

Dubai Police Patrols have rescued a local woman and an Asian man from drowning after their vehicles had been surrounded by flooding water caused by the recent heavy rainfall that hit the city.

Brigadier Saeed Hamad Bin Sulaiman Al Malik, Director of Al Rashidiya Police Station, said that the Command and Control room at Dubai police received a report on Saturday at 4:00 AM about a woman stuck in her vehicle under the floodwater in the Festival City tunnel. “Our patrols rushed to the scene and found the woman in panic. The officers tried to open the doors but to no avail. They resorted to pulling her out from the window to the roof of her car,” Brig. Al Malik continued.

“With the heavy rain continuously falling, the water level in the tunnel rose rapidly, so our police officers accompanied the woman until the arrival of the specialised rescue team who secured her out of the tunnel.” Brig. Al Malik added.

On the second incident, Brig. Al Malik revealed that Al Rashidiya police officers were patrolling the area of Dubai International City when they spotted a motorist in his vehicle stuck in the flooded water. “Our patrol officers approached the stranded car and helped the Asian man get out of the window,” he said.

Brig. Al Malik has urged the public to remain calm and report emergencies immediately to 999 and provide accurate information for faster response. He also urged motorists to be cautious while driving during bad weather and avoid water ponds to prevent dangerous situations.

From their sides, the local woman and the Asian man extended their thanks to Dubai Police for the immediate response and saving their lives.
