A young man on trial for stealing AED 1 M from a furniture shop

Sharjah Criminal Court looked into the case of an Arab young man after being charged of stealing more than one shop with the assistance of others. He was able to steal AED 1 M from the treasury of a shop in Sharjah and was captured by the surveillance camera.

In detail, Sharjah Police had received more than one report of garments and furniture shops theft in the same way and method. Among the reports was the theft of AED 1 M from inside the treasury of one of the store, where accordingly the security and investigation teams moved to the theft scenes, and was able to identify the accused through the surveillance camera footage in one of the stolen shops. The defendant was arrested and during investigations he admitted his crimes stating that he was assisted by several people who fled out of the country.

A witness from Sharja Police stated that the defendant with a number of fugitives managed to break a treasury and steal AED 1 M which he admitted during the investigations of committing all thefts, and that his partners left the country after carrying out the theft operation in the morning before the shop owner report it to the police. The court convicted the defendant with the charges against him and with the statements of the witness but he denied.

The Public Prosecution requested the conviction of the accused, while the court decided to postpone the case to the next hearing on 13 January to rule on the case.
