The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal heard the case of an Arab man charged for issuing a dud cheque amounting to AED 1,100 million in favor of an institution.
The defendant confessed before the court that he issued a cheque without balance and signed on it. The court of first instance sentenced him to three years in prison and ordered him to settle and pay the amount. He stated that he will settle the amount through invoices.
The court decided to postpone the case till he settles the amount and bring full payment statement to the hearing on Wednesday, October 23.
In another case, The court also looked into a case where an Arab man was charged for issuing five checks worth AED 480,000 in favor of a person. The court of first instance sentenced him to six months in prison. The lawyer had requested to postpone the case to prepare the defense and the court decided to postpone the case to the hearing on Tuesday, October 22.
