VI Middle East Fertility Clinic says 32-year-old woman has finally given birth to a healthy daughter after 23 unsuccessful IVF rounds

An Abu Dhabi clinic has announced that a 32-year-old woman has finally given birth to a healthy daughter after undergoing 23 rounds of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment around the world.

The woman, named only as Alaa, from Jordan but living in Abu Dhabi, had been struggling with her infertility for nine years.

According to studies, women who conceived with IVF treatment go through an average of 2.7 cycles while most doctors discourage woman from continuing in treatment using their own eggs after about 3 to 4 failed cycles.

“The couple had previously undergone 23 unsuccessful trials of IVF treatments worldwide but none of them had paid off. When they first came to IVI Middle East, they had already been trying to have a baby for nearly a decade,” said Dr.Human Fatemi, medical director at IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic.

“Although the woman had a regular menstrual cycle of 30 days with no dysmenorrhea, the husband has been diagnosed with Cryptozoospermia, or low sperm count in semen samples,” he added.

The couple underwent an IVF procedure at IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic in Abu Dhabi along with pre-implantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) on the embryos and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) technique.

According to Fatemi, the PGT-A was performed to evaluate the couple’s chromosomal information and to ensure that only chromosomally normal embryos would be implanted in the uterus, which would, in turn, increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. The husband was also placed under medication for three months to enhance sperm production.

“As a result of this treatment cycle, the patient got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy daughter,” he added.

The couple said in a statement: “We had lost our hope of becoming parents, until we visited IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic. Dr Fatemi has been a blessing in disguise, and we can’t thank him enough for lighting up our lives.”

IVI Middle East has clinics in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE and in Muscat, Oman.
