A Khaleeji man, who threatened a woman via Snapchat and encouraged her to commit sin, will serve 18 months in jail and pay Dh150,000, Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court heard.
According to case files, the defendant established accounts on SnapChat under different names, posed as a woman to deceive his victims and send friend request to the victim before copying her personal pictures and threatened to send it to her family which terrified her and forced her to send a personal clip for him.
He asked her to record a video while having illegal affairs with others for money but she refused and reported the incident to concerned authority.
The defendant was arrested and his phones were confiscated and referred to public prosecution to finish the investigation.
He was additionally sentenced to one month for copying the victim’s personal pictures.
Defence lawyer claimed that the victim was the one who added his client on SnapChat and sent the video to him.
“My client threatened to report her to the concerned authorities if she send more personal pictures to him. There is no evidence against him and he denied the charges,” said the lawyer.
