Arab Coalition evacuates Iranian ship’s crew member in Red Sea on humanitarian grounds

The Saudi-led Arab Coalition supporting the legitimate government in Yemen evacuated a crew member for medical reasons from an Iranian ship northwest of Yemen’s Hodeidah port, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported the Coalition as saying on Tuesday.

Colonel Turki Al-Malki, the Official Spokesperson for the Coalition, said they received a distress call to evacuate a member of the crew of the Iranian ship ‘Safiz’.

The evacuated crew member is being treated in a military hospital in Jazan in Saudi Arabia, he said.

Al-Malki said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had received an official request from the Iranian Ambassador at Iran’s Permanent delegation to the United Nations.

He added that the Coalition carried out the evacuation as per the instructions of the wise leadership, based on the Kingdom’s humanitarian values, teachings of Islam and adherence to international law.
