Abu Dhabi: Man acquitted from suicide attempt charge due to chest pain

The lack of evidence in a case in which a young GCC man was accused of a suicide attempt led to his acquittal. Case details showed that the young man was suffering from chest pain that made him act in an abnormal way.

In addition, a report was sent to the Abu Dhabi Police Department stating that a person was trying to enter the sea, explaining that the reason for his entry was an attempt to harm himself by suicide. Police moved to the scene and the suspect was arrested.

The accused denied the charges. He added that at 4:00 pm on that day, he went to the beach to enjoy his time, he suddenly felt pain in his chest, so he was tossing on the sand and the next thing he remembers is being surprised by the police in front of him.

His lawyer submitted a memorandum indicating that the defendant was suffering from severe respiratory distress and pain in the chest area due to a medical condition, which made him behave abnormally.
