RAK: Young man accused of scaring his nephew with electric shock sounds

Ras Al Khaimah’s Court of Misdemeanors considered the case of a young man accused of scaring a child (his nephew) with the sound of an electric shock and posting the video on social media. The accused explained that he was just joking with him.

The first instance court had fined the accused AED 5,000 for the charges against him.

The defendant denied the charges against him and stated that he was joking with his nephew and there was no intention of endangering his life, pointing out that he had used his mobile phone and not an actual electric shocking device.

He explained that members of the family were there at the time of the incident and that one of them filmed the video, and posted it on a private family group on “Whats App”, while another person on the group posted it on other social media outlets.

The child’s father dropped the case because he knew that his wife’s brother could not have intentionally intimidated his son or endangered his life. He asked the court to acquit the accused of the charges.
