Emirati man creates a “smart chair” for his disabled son

After failing to find a chair suitable for his child’s weight and age in the market, an Emirati man has created a smart chair with special specifications to solve the problem of his child, who has been suffering from a movement disability since birth.

Bader Al Oghani told Al Emarat Al-Youm that he was looking for a wheelchair that his child could use independently, but to no avail, which led him to think about designing a chair with certain specifications to suit the disability that his child “Khaled” -six and a half years old- suffers from.

Khalid’s disability was a result of lack of brain growth at birth, which led to movement and cognitive impairments.

Khaled is the twin of another child named Omar who has no health problems. However, Khaled suffered a brain haemorrhage during childbirth, which required nine surgeries, causing him the inability to walk or move his left hand, he relied on crawling, or getting carried by his family members for movement, that’s why his father created the smart chair that could be run by remote control or using a wheel driven by Khalid himself.
