Ajman: Asian man jailed for locking tenant in an apartment to force him to evacuate

Ajman Criminal Court sentenced a 53-year-old defendant to three months’ imprisonment followed by deportation from the country for locking an Arab national inside his rented apartment by changing the door locks while the victim was sleeping inside. The accused also cut off the electricity and water from the apartment.

Details of the case reveal that the Asian accused had locked a person of Arab nationality in an apartment rented for AED 3,000 per month. The tenant asked the landlord to provide him with the contract and the landlord replied that he would give it to him in two days.

Accordingly, the Public Prosecution charged that the victim was unlawfully detained by locking the apartment during his sleep, damaging the door lock and entering the victim’s house against his will.
