RAK: Asian man gets jail sentence for impersonating a charity organization employee

Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court, headed by counselor Sameh Shaker, sentenced an Asian young man in his thirties to a year in prison and deportation from the country after the prison sentence, after he was accused of impersonating an employee of a charity based in another emirate, and collecting people’s donations on behalf of the charity organization.

Details of the case reveal that RAK Police received a report from a citizen in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah stating that an Asian citizen was suspiciously collecting people’s money for an alleged charity organization based outside the emirate.

During the investigation, the accused confessed to forging the business card and the logo of the charity he was wearing, and that he used the collected money for his own personal benefit. The case was referred to the competent court, where the Public Prosecutor’s Office charged him with several charges; including collecting money without a license, and impersonating an employee of the charity organization.
