Dubai: Three on trial for human trafficking

Dubai Public Prosecution referred two Asian men and a woman to court on charges of human trafficking by forcing a minor (under the age of 18) into prostitution. The first accused was also charged with the crime of raping the minor.

The victim stated she had decided to come to the UAE due to her family’s difficult circumstances, explaining that she had met a woman who had been living in the UAE for 10 years and had promised to find her a job as a maid in a house and paid for her visa and travel ticket.

The victim was also issued a fake passport with an older age before she was forced to work as a prostitute in a brothel in Naif, Dubai.

Dubai Police raided the apartment and arrested the defendants. The two men were additionally charged for raping two victims and locking them up, and the victims were transferred to Dubai Foundation for Women and Children to receive the needed care.
