RAK Police arrests man for a viral video of a frightened child

The General Directorate of Ras Al Khaimah police arrested a man who circulated a viral video on social networks showing a frightened child while a person is disciplining him in an intimidating way.

H.E. Maj. Gen. Ali Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police, explained that Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of RAK Police managed to find the owner of the video 3 days after its circulation on social media after a team was formed to search for the source of the video. The video owner was found and arrested. Preliminary investigation is still underway with him before he is referred to the competent authorities.

H.E. affirmed that the UAE is a country of law and preservation of rights, especially with regard to the rights, safety and security of children. He also stressed that such acts are not of the UAE society’s customs nor traditions.

He also appealed to all parents and members of the community to open the door for peaceful dialogues with their children, increasing their self confidence and avoiding the negative outcomes that may be reflected on their future behavior.

MoI Child Protection Centre also stressed the Ministry of Interior’s keenness on the safety of children and protecting them from abuse, pointing out that the Hotline (116111) is provided by the Ministry that specializes and deals with the issues children in all confidentiality and safety.
