Dubai Global Village has welcomed Columbian singer Concha Bernal on its main stage, as part of a cultural promotion programme that the Columbian foreign ministry organises annually to showcase its cultural facets.
Columbian Ambassador to the UAE, Faihan Al-Fayez Chaljub, said, “Concha Bernal, singer, composer and artist, has an excellent track record that symbolises the young talent of Columbia and is responsible for promoting traditional Columbian folklore.”
Commenting on her experience performing in front of a UAE audience, Bernal said, “The experience in the UAE is rewarding both personally and professionally. When the people listen to you with such respect and applaud you, it means that my personal message has come to them, and we are all equal before feelings, this multicultural scenario brought me tears.”
Additionally, the Columbian Embassy has organised a concert featuring Bernal for local authorities, the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, businessmen, investment funds and other special guests.
The event was covered by the local television channels, which also interviewed Ambassador Faihan Al Fayez and the artist, who had the opportunity to explain the ethnic origin of Columbian music and the different cultural mixes that make up the country’s folklore, reflected in the drum, gaita and guitar.
