A 26-year-old African security guard was convicted of killing his wife, a 27-year-old employee, and has been sentenced to 10 years in jail with an additional three-month sentence for attempting to kill himself after committing his crime.
Case details reveal that things seemed normal between the accused and the victim before the crime was committed, according to the testimony of one of their roommates. There were signs that the couple were happy due to a new job opportunity for the victim. The roommate went out, and when he got back, he found people gathered in front of the door, so they used a spare key to open the door. The wife was then found lying on the floor soaked in her blood and the husband was on the bed with traces of blood, a knife next to him, and an apparent stab to his stomach that led to his intestines coming out of his body.
The forensic report revealed that the husband grabbed the wife from her neck, chocking her, then gave her several stabs and when she tried to escape, he stabbed her from the back, and then he stabbed himself several times, but he was treated with a surgery.
