Al Ain Zoo photo competition opens for submissions today

Al Ain Zoo has announced the launch of the 7th edition of its annual photography competition, ‘Zoography’. The Zoo will start receiving entries from today until 25th November 2018. This competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers, from inside and outside the UAE, and within two categories, black and white lens and coloured lens.

Al Ain Zoo has put together a panel of judges who applied through different social media platforms while taking into account three conditions: experience in photography and judging, winning previous competitions and membership in previous judging committees.

Omar Yousef Al Blooshi, Director Marketing and Corporate Communication at Al Ain Zoo, said, “Since last year, the Zoography competition was focused on capturing wildlife images in both coloured and black & white lens. This year we are focusing again on the same categories which enable us to receive entries that demonstrate the greatest diversity in wildlife through visual art.

“This year, as always, there are new jurors on the judging panel. The selected jury have been chosen according to their expertise in the field of photography and are according to specific requirements from the supervisors of the competition at the Zoo.”

Over the past six years, the competition has received a huge interaction from contestants, with the number of submissions from lovers of wildlife doubling annually. Last year, there were 3,000 entries from both inside and outside the UAE, including entrants from the GCC, Europe, East Asia and Africa. Most of the animal pictures submitted were of giraffes, leopards, African lions, flamingos and meerkats.

Details of the competition and its terms and conditions can be found on the Al Ain Zoo official website.
