A 69-year-old Arab man and two of his grandchildren (Aged Four and Two) lost their lives in a fire that broke out in a residential building in Rashidiya district in Ajman for four years and two years.

Brigadier Rashid Jassim Majlad, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Ajman’s Civil Defense Dept., stated that the central operations room of Ajman’s Civil Defence received a report of the fire at 12.06pm.

The Civil Defense and National Ambulance teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the victims were  transferred to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital in Ajman.

Brig. Majlad said the report came from a passerby who saw the smoke rising from the apartment in the fourth floor of a six-storey apartment building. Upon arrival, it was found that the fire had caused the suffocation of the grandfather and his two grandchildren.

He also called on the residents and owners of residential buildings to periodically maintain fire alarms.
