GCC Government employee illegally obtains the salary of a deceased man for 7 years

A government employee (GCC National) has been arrested by Abu Dhabi police for illegally obtaining a monthly  “financial subsidy” in the name of a deceased person for seven years in a corruption case that also lead to the seizure of witchcraft items and possessions.

Colonel Mattar Al Muhairi, Director of the Anti-Corruption Department in ADP, revealed the involvement of others in the case, all of whom were caught, including a government employee along with others of Asian nationality.

According to the details of the incident, a report was received about suspicion of financial and administrative corruption, in the governmental body’s branch in ​​Al Ain, in the form of taking a monthly amount of money “financial subsidy” on behalf of a person found to have died since 2011.

During his interrogation, a bag in the possession of the accused was found to contain three dead birds, and other items usually used in witchcraft, in addition to bank cards belonging to other beneficiaries of the same governmental body. In the accused’s home, pieces of shells, hair and books used in witchcraft were found along with other official documents.

Another female suspect was found to have helped the accused as she knew that she was a partner and supporter in the crime, two maids were also accused of the withdrawal of the monthly salary from ATM machines under the instructions of their sponsors.

All suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution of Al Ain, to complete the investigations. Colonel Al-Muhairi praised the efforts of the Federal Authority, partners and employees of the Anti-Corruption Department, stressing that this seizure reflects the government’s commitment  in combating all types of corruption.
